Rotary switches

Generalities and recommendations :

A rotary switch is composed of two essential parts:
  • A part used to distribute electricity, called wafer. One or more wafers can be assembled on the switch (depends on models).
  • A mechanical part, which block the wafers in the working position, and/or makes the wished mechanical function (recall, pull and turn...).
The wafers are assembled on the mechanical part with threaded shafts. The principle of a rotary switch being the distribution in turns of a pole on several positions, defined in advance, each wafer contains a common circuit and several exit poles. Several circuits can equip a simple wafer, or even a double for some models.

Command axis are configurable upon client request. On all our products, the axis length is measured from the bearing face of the switch (or from the internal face of the panel).

It is possible to reduce the length of the threaded barrel to 8 or 6 mm in case of thin pannels.

On some models, manipulation torques can be increased or decreased upon request.

During the wiring of the switch, weld if possible with the exit contacts open. Furthermore, be sure that the wires do not obstruct the moving parts of the switch.

The use of all types of solvents is forbidden, to avoid damaging the switch.

Our products are configurable*, so they are assembled only upon order and client request.

Programmable rotary switches
This range of rotary switches is designed to be imbedded in printed circuits. It is also possible to manufacture any type of coding, from the binary code to the “gray” code, or with a special combination. Some versions can be programmed directly by the customer at receipt of the product (CH 144 type B or C)...

Rotary switches activated by key
We offer some models activated by key instead of a standard shaft, these models are usually used for military and sensitive applications. The keylocks used are manufactured by RONIS for standard keys, or Kaba for an application for security keys (keys cannot be easily duplicated). The keys can also be hierarchised with a RONIS or CLT5 keylock...
